GENBAND Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Plano, TX, June 24, 2009 - GENBAND Inc., a market-leading developer of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, today announced the company is celebrating its 10th anniversary of operations. Since its founding in June of 1999, GENBAND has been driving the evolution and transformation of telecommunications networks through market-leading IP gateways, session border controllers and fixed mobile convergence (FMC) solutions. These high-performance, high-security gateways are at the center of fixed and mobile networks around the globe.

“GENBAND began operations during one of the most difficult telecommunications markets in history,” said Charles Vogt, president and chief executive officer of GENBAND. “We are very proud of the many accomplishments we have made during our first 10 years as a company and the incredible response we’ve experienced from telecom operators worldwide. Our success and rapid growth, despite challenging economic times, can be attributed to the cost savings, innovation and transformation network operators achieve with our solutions.”

Under the direction of Mr. Vogt who was appointed CEO in September 2004, GENBAND leveraged powerful homegrown media gateway technology and began acquiring under-radar assets to become a category leader. Today GENBAND is recognized as a worldwide market-share leader in IP Gateways by industry analysts Infonetics and Synergy Research.

GENBAND also implemented a unique go-to-market strategy that turned competitors into partners. By de-focusing on the company’s non-gateway product offerings where competing or overlapping technologies existed, GENBAND emphasized product and customer synergies with global telecom equipment manufacturers.

During the past four calendar years, GENBAND has successfully secured business with more than 60 of the world’s top 100 network service providers, partnered with eight of the world’s largest telecom equipment manufacturers, extended its global reach to over 80 countries, executed three major acquisitions, and grown annual revenues from $5 million to nearly $150 million (YE 2008). GENBAND’s growth has landed the company on the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing companies the last two consecutive years.

“GENBAND’s 10-year trajectory, particularly since we hired Charlie, has been relentlessly focused on market leadership,” said Dr. Jon Bayless, GENBAND’s chairman of the board and general partner of Seven Rosen Funds. “Today we congratulate the GENBAND family on a very successful decade. We see incredible opportunities in facilitating cost-effective migration of fixed and mobile networks to converged next generation architectures such as IMS and LTE. We eagerly look forward to the next 10 years where GENBAND will continue to secure, connect and control network borders and enable cutting edge voice and multimedia services only imaginable today.”
