Policy and Routing For Service Providers

Ribbon has the "gold standard" for centralized network policy and routing control. With an extremely scalable, high-availability, distributed master/replica architecture, service providers will optimize the allocation of network resources to where they are needed for intelligent session control. With a single point of provisioning Ribbon’s policy and routing solution (PSX) greatly reduces the complexity and cost of provisioning and ongoing operations.

Designed to scale to handle millions of calls per hour, PSX can be deployed in any fixed or mobile operator’s network, including being used as an IMS Border Gateway Control Function (BGCF). Implemented as a software-only solution, deployment options exist for multiple virtual and cloud environments in both private and public clouds.

Used to intelligently manage communications sessions (e.g., routing paths, priority, admission control, etc.), a service provider can implement multiple policies to determine the optimal routing path for any call. Supporting least cost and QoS routing, including rules-based on media type, source/destination, and time of day/week provides a high degree of flexibility. PSX also supports number translation services giving service providers a way to reduce costs for every database dip.

The PSX plays an important role as an enabler for our customer’s implementation of STIR/SHAKEN. PSX interworks with SBCs and Gateways and with any vendor's STIR/SHAKEN-defined Secure Telephone Identity to handle caller authentication or verification request queries and responses.

It also acts as a “broker” in real-time, for every call, for Ribbon’s hosted Identity Hub services – STIR/SHAKEN as a Service and Reputation Scoring Service.
