Call Trust® - Deepfake Detection

An AI-driven solution delivered from the core of a service provider’s network to detect and stop deepfake calls.

When a familiar voice can’t be trusted, every call carries risk

Voice calls are essential to doing business, whether it’s banking, healthcare, government, customer service, employee support, or thousands of other engagements. Phone calls are also fundamental to staying connected. From the joy of engaging with a loved one to the pain of an accident or emergency.

Deepfake technology challenges the basic assumption behind all of those interactions…trust. Trust that the voice on the call belongs to the person it claims to represent.

Modern AI tools can use a small audio sample (from social media, a recorded call, YouTube, etc.) to reproduce a person’s voice, tone, and cadence. Attackers use that deepfake voice during a live call to deceive their intended victim.

Attackers use these synthetic voices to impersonate executives, coworkers, and family members, exploiting the trust people place in a familiar voice. They use that trust to gain access to corporate networks, execute fraudulent business transactions, or defraud the most vulnerable members of our community.

Protection Delivered from Inside the Phone Network

  • Every call already passes through a service provider’s voice infrastructure, including session border controllers (SBC) at the edge of the voice network.
  • Ribbon uses the SBC as a gatekeeper to monitor every call and reject or halt deepfake calls.
  • Ribbon’s Call Trust – Deepfake Detection analyzes the media stream to look for indicators of deepfake audio, instructing the SBC to insert an immediate warning when a potential threat is detected.

Protecting the Our Most Vulnerable Citizens

Older members of the community are the easiest targets

Globally, older members of our community hold the largest share of wealth. They are also the least prepared for these deepfake schemes. Social engineering is already effective; now it’s possible to impersonate trusted friends, family members, and caregivers.

Ribbon’s Call Trust - Deepfake Detection works transparently. Nothing to install, no training, just a simple notification that the caller is not real, with the option to disconnect the call. Ideal protection, delivered to any telephone number.
