Austin, TX – General Bandwidth, a leading telecommunications equipment provider enabling carriers to deliver enhanced voice services over broadband networks, has been selected by Dalton Utilities to deliver high quality, full feature voice services over their new Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) network. General Bandwidth's G6 platform will be deployed in August for Dalton Utilities' OptiLink service offering which provides the residents of Dalton, Georgia with an integrated communication service of voice, video and high-speed data over an all-fiber access network.

“With the introduction of voice, video, and high-speed data services over our fiber to the premises network, Dalton Utilities continues to bring innovation and exciting new services to address the growing needs of our community,” said Sam Gilson, Vice President of Information Technology of Dalton Utilities. “The General Bandwidth G6 platform enables us to deliver high quality voice over our FTTP network while providing us a migration strategy that ensures a seamless path to the next generation of innovation in voice and media services.”

“Dalton Utilities represents another significant endorsement of our G6 platform as the leading voice solution for fiber to the premises deployments,” said Brendon Mills, President and CEO of General Bandwidth. “We are very pleased Dalton Utilities has selected the G6 platform as a key element to their overall deployment strategy.”

The General Bandwidth G6 platform is a carrier class, Voice over ATM (VoATM) and Voice over IP (VoIP) access/media gateway. The NEBS Level 3 certified platform is a multi-application solution supporting aggregation of voice and data from multiple broadband access technologies (fiber, DSL, T1, and cable). With the platform's simultaneous support of multiple signaling protocols such as GR-303/TR-08, TGCP/MGCP, and SIP/PRI, the G6 platform can deliver a variety of profitable residential and business services from either legacy Class 5 switches or next generation softswitches.
