GENBAND Celebrates 4th Annual Global Day of Service
Frisco, Texas, May 28, 2014 – GENBAND, a leading developer of multimedia and cloud communications solutions, today announced the kickoff of its fourth annual Global Day of Service with volunteer activities scheduled in more than 30 countries on May 30th. This year employees will again dedicate more than 10,000 hours of community service, including more than 6,000 hours on its Global Day of Service.
“Our Global Day of Service is at the core of GENBAND’s DNA – it helps define our unique culture and allows us to give back to our local communities,” said Robin Wright, Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Operations for GENBAND. “This year’s Global Day of Service theme is ‘Leaving Our Mark’ and I could not be more proud of the commitment to volunteerism that our employees around the world have exhibited – not only on the Global Day of Service, but throughout the year. Our volunteer efforts will benefit more than 90 outstanding charities and non-profits around the globe.”
“GENBAND employees are regular volunteers at our organization, and a valued part of our community of supporters,” said Cheryl Jackson, Founder of Minnie’s Food Pantry in Plano, Texas. “On their Global Day of Service last year more than 40 employees came out to our facility to assist in activities such as unloading and sorting donated items, and we look forward to hosting them again this year. GENBAND is a model example for other companies to follow, embodying the true spirit of year-round giving.”
On June 1, 2010, GENBAND executives made June 1st a global company holiday. GENBAND employees subsequently recommended transforming the holiday into a global day of community service. Because June 1st is on a weekend day this year, GENBAND employees will conduct their volunteer activities on May 30th. Since the inception of its Global Day of Service, GENBAND employees have dedicated more than 25,000 hours to community service.
