GENBAND CEO Charles Vogt Named to Global Telecoms Business Power 100 List
Plano, TX, September 30, 2010 – GENBAND, a leading developer of IP solutions and services, today announced that Charles Vogt, President and CEO of GENBAND, has been named one of the 100 most powerful people in the telecom industry worldwide by Global Telecoms Business magazine. Vogt ranked 43rd on the annual list.
Global Telecoms Business began the GTB100, as the list was originally called, to mark the 100th printed edition of the magazine in September 2008. The award is designed to honor the most influential people in the telecom industry worldwide. This year’s Power100 list was compiled from nominations by worldwide readers of Global Telecoms Business — including CEOs, CFOs and other senior executives of the world’s major operators, telecom vendors and industry organizations.
“It is an honor to accept this award from Global Telecoms Business on behalf of the entire GENBAND team for their entrepreneurial spirit that has not only enabled us to grow our business, but to affect change on the global telecom landscape,” said Mr. Vogt. “This award is a reflection of GENBAND’s success in leading the industry’s transformation to IP by creating innovative solutions that improve service providers’ competitive advantage and profitability.”
Vogt became CEO of GENBAND in 2004 and has successfully steered the company through one of the most difficult market environments ever encountered in the telecom industry, while achieving 130 percent compound annual growth in revenue and growing from a single product company into a global market-share leader in IP switching and networking infrastructure and services. Strategic acquisitions of Tekelec’s IP switching division, NextPoint Networks and most recently Nortel’s Carrier IP switching division have transformed the company’s product portfolio, customer profile, geographic footprint and financial performance. These significant results can be attributed to Vogt’s vision, focus and unique go-to-market strategy.
“We congratulate Charlie and all the members of the GTB Power100 in 2010,” said Laurence Mackintosh, publisher of Global Telecoms Business.
Vogt was recently recognized by the Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC) as Corporate CEO of the Year in recognition of his outstanding leadership in the technology and communications industry. This weekend he will also be honored by his alma mater, Saint Louis University. Vogt is one of eight alumni selected by the University’s Center of Entrepreneurship to be inducted into the Smurfit-Stone Entrepreneurial Alumni Hall of Fame. Now in its fourth year, the annual award recognizes SLU graduates who have contributed to society through entrepreneurial leadership and service to the community.
