GENBAND Demonstrates Dedication to Local Communities with 3rd Annual Global Day of Service

Frisco, Texas, May 29, 2013 – GENBAND, a leading developer of multimedia and cloud communications solutions, today announced the kickoff of its third annual Global Day of Service with volunteer activities scheduled in more than 30 countries on June 1st. The company has established a goal of dedicating more than 10,000 hours of community service in 2013, including 5,000 hours on its Global Day of Service to benefit over 60 charities worldwide.

GENBAND will receive special recognition from the Frisco City Council in the form of a Proclamation on Wednesday, May 29th, 2013, during GENBAND’s kickoff event at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas.

“From here on out, June 1st is declared GENBAND Day in Frisco to celebrate the work that GENBAND employees are doing in communities here, across the nation, and worldwide,” said Mayor Maher Maso, City of Frisco. “By supporting some of our city’s most valuable charities and non-profit organizations, GENBAND is shining a light on giving back and providing an excellent example of corporate social responsibility for our city’s businesses.”

“Our Global Day of Service serves as an annual celebration of all the work that our employees do year-round to give back to their communities,” said Charlie Vogt, president and CEO of GENBAND. “GENBAND Day springs from the generosity of our employees and we have kept the grassroots spirit of the company holiday alive by working with employees across our offices to partner with organizations that hold special meaning to them and their families. We also want to thank the Mayor for the ongoing support of the City, and we are honored that the Frisco City Council has chosen to recognize GENBAND employees’ commitment to the community.”

In Dallas, GENBAND has partnered with Brandon Carr, cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys and founder of Carr Cares Foundation, to promote educational enrichment and physical fitness programs for youth during the Frisco kickoff event.

“GENBAND is an influential organization in the Metroplex, and I am thrilled to support the company’s community service activities this year while highlighting opportunities to support our area’s youth through the Carr Cares Foundation,” said Mr. Carr. “We look forward to developing strong alliances with local businesses, like GENBAND, who are out in our communities making a difference.”

During the Global Day of Service, GENBAND employees around the world will dedicate time to various activities that benefit their communities.   Employees based at the Maidenhead, United Kingdom, campus outside of London will be working with Windsor Mencap, the leading voice of children with learning disabilities in the region. GENBAND employees will be 'sprucing up' their clubhouse, including painting, pulling down an old shed, and trimming the gardens and hedges. Last year, Maidenhead employees built a community garden for Bright Start, a local preschool that depends on donations from parents to help make improvements.  A time lapse video from the Bright Start community garden build is available to view here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pD2aiVVYpg.
