FemtoZone serves as information hub for today’s femtocell ecosystem with presentations from GENBAND, Orange, Softbank, T-Mobile, Vodafone, others
Plano, TX, February 12, 2009 - GENBAND Inc., a market-leading developer of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, today announced it will be participating in the FemtoZone at Mobile World Congress 2009. The FemtoZone, which is hosted by the GSMA and the Femto Forum, will serve as a one-stop shop for all visitors interested in learning about the latest developments in the femtocell industry as it undergoes a pivotal year for deployment.
GENBAND will be making a presentation about securely deploying and connecting femtocells to 3G mobile core networks on Monday, February 16th at 1 pm. GENBAND will also be highlighting its S-series Security Gateways and G9™ Packet Access Gateway in the femtocell ecosystem product showcase at the FemtoZone as well as in its own stand (2A115). The FemtoZone (Stand - 2.1B34) will feature a daily schedule of public presentations from operators and vendors on the major opportunities and challenges facing the femtocell market.
“GENBAND enables service providers to securely deploy femtocells and seamlessly interwork them into existing 3G mobile core networks,” said Mehmet Balos, GENBAND Chief Marketing Officer. “Our G9™ Packet Access Gateway manages and concentrates millions of femtocell access points required for wide residential and business deployment. Supporting up to 1.2 million security tunnels in a single system, our S-Series Security Gateways provide industry-leading security capabilities. These two solutions combine to form part of a femtocell gateway (Radio Access Network Gateway) within a complete femtocell solution.”
“Over the past year, the femtocell industry has overcome major technical and business challenges paving the way in 2009 for operators to introduce commercial services,” said Robindhra Mangtani, Director of the GSMA project on femtocells.
“The Mobile World Congress is a key event for operators to cement their consumer propositions to ensure their launches are as successful as possible,” said Professor Simon Saunders, Chairman of The Femto Forum. “This year’s Mobile World Congress marks the beginning of the real acid test for femtocells. The FemtoZone will attempt to address the key issues, such as what is going to be the key driver for successful deployments and are there going to be further technical hurdles to be addressed before we see large scale deployment.”
