Curitiba, Pontific Catholic University and GENBAND Inaugurate R&D Center in Curitiba Techno Park, a Major Economic Empowerment Zone

Curitiba, Brazil, September 17, 2008 – GENBAND, a market-leading developer of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, today announced it has moved its Brazilian Research and Development Center in Curitiba with the establishment of an R&D cooperation agreement with Pontific Catholic University (Pontifícia Universidade Católico or PUC).  The new facility is located within Techno Park in Curitiba as part of a cutting-edge economic program sponsored by PUC, the largest university in Curitiba. Techno Park is an ideal location for GENBAND to continue to serve the South and Central American markets, while benefiting from a strategic talent pool in the region.

“We’re extremely pleased to inaugurate the GENBAND R&D Center in Curitiba in cooperation with PUC and look forward to capitalizing on several new strategic assets of Curitiba,” said Charles Vogt, GENBAND president and CEO. “Not only is Brazil a major market for us, but it is also perfectly situated in the CALA region – allowing us to leverage our presence here in better serving and understanding the entire Latin American market. We commend both Pontific Catholic University and Curitiba Agency for this important initiative and know that we will benefit significantly from the extraordinarily well-educated talent pool the university and city produce.”
