GENBAND Kicks Off 2nd Annual Global Day of Service

Frisco, Texas, June 1, 2012 – GENBAND, a leading developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, today announced the kick-off of its second annual June 1st Global Day of Service with volunteer activities scheduled around the world. Last year, GENBAND employees volunteered more than 5,000 hours on its inaugural “GENBAND Day” Global Day of Service, benefiting more than 65 charities in 16 countries.  The company has established a goal of volunteering more than 10,000 hours of community service in 2012 and marks its commitment yearly with a unique employee holiday to volunteer in respective communities.

“During our first Global Day of Service last year, employees from around the world demonstrated GENBAND’s commitment to the communities in which we live and work by voluntarily giving back more than 5,000 hours of service,” said Charlie Vogt, president and CEO of GENBAND. “In an effort to foster a year-round spirit of volunteerism, we have challenged our team to commit to doing even more this year. We are extremely proud to have the opportunity to work with non-profit and community organizations in virtually every corner of the world.”

“GENBAND is a great corporate partner for the City of Frisco,” said Mayor Maher Maso, City of Frisco.  “We’re fortunate to have an organization and its employee base so committed to giving back to our community.  GENBAND’s Global Day of Service is a model program, taking corporate social responsibility to a new level.  We commend GENBAND employees for their dedication to volunteer service and commitment to teamwork.”

GENBAND has partnered with organizations around the world to organize activities selected by employees in each region. One example is a partnership established this year with Ottawa Community Housing, where employees will be performing interior and exterior painting of resident housing.

“The work being performed by this group of volunteers goes a long way in improving the quality of life for Ottawa Community Housing tenants,” said Steve Desroches, City of Ottawa Deputy Mayor, Councillor and Ottawa Community Housing Chair. “Ottawa Community Housing is very thankful that our tenants will be the beneficiaries of this act of goodwill. The GENBAND volunteers can feel proud that their actions will result in a revitalized public space that will allow residents to feel a renewed pride in their community.”
