GENBAND Multimedia Applications Server Approved by Defense Information Systems Agency
Approval Shows Highest Validation of Interoperability,
Reliability and Security for the GENBAND M5 Platform
February 26, 2008, Plano, TX - GENBAND Inc., a market-leading developer of next-generation media gateways and application solutions today announced that the GENBAND M5 Multimedia Applications ServerTM has passed Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) interoperability and security testing for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and has been added to the Approved Products List (APL) for its unified messaging and personal call manager functionality. Certification by the JITC confirms that the M5 platform conforms to the interoperability, reliability, resilience and security requirements of DISA’s multi-vendor voice network.
The M5 Multimedia Applications Server uniquely supports signaling and services across both legacy TDM and next generation VoIP networks via the use of standards-based protocols such as SIP, MGCP, AIN, INAP, and CAMEL. The M5 platform provides an advanced suite of revenue generating residential and business applications including unified communications, personal call manager, advanced toll free, and global voice VPNs. In addition, the platform supports rapid creation of new applications via industry-standard interfaces, such as SIP Servlets, JAIN, Parlay, and provides comprehensive rating, charging and messaging frameworks for integration into OSS infrastructures.
The M5 platform went through extensive testing that was divided into two parts to receive JITC approval. The first part covered functional testing with various vendors’ Class 5 switches for call flow and compliance with MLPP (Multilevel Precedence and Preemption). For the second stage of testing, the M5 platform was evaluated for authentication, authorization, and accounting and reliability when deployed in the network without compromising elements in the network. Additionally, there was additional testing of IP penetration and scenarios if a hacker was able to compromise the security. Having passed this testing, the M5 platform is now approved to run on the DISA Networks
“Successful completion of this level of testing highlights our commitment to building secure, carrier-grade solutions built on an open, standards compliant architecture," said Keith Landau, GENBAND's executive vice president of research and development. "To receive the JITC approval is a strong validation of GENBAND’s capability to deliver solutions that meet even the most demanding requirements."
