GENBAND Selected by Engage Communications for Key West VOIP Deployments
February 26, 2007, Plano, TX - GENBAND™ Inc., a leading provider of IMS-based telecommunications applications and infrastructure products enabling converged IP multimedia services, today announced that Engage Communications has chose the G6® Universal Media Gateway and C2™ Signaling Controller to provide telephony services in Key West, Florida.
Engage Communications is a subsidiary of Key West-based Protection Plus, which provides security/fire alarm systems, video surveillance, access control systems and telephone systems to residential and business customers throughout the Florida Keys. GENBAND was chosen in conjunction with Sylantro Systems to enable VoIP services for a new triple play service offering the company is rolling out in Key West. This new converged service offering for the residential and hospitality market promises to provide a more cost-effective combination of voice, video, and internet service.
“We chose GENBAND’s G6 Universal Media Gateway and C2 Signaling Controller for our new IP-based voice services because of the versatility and its reputation for reliability and ease of use,” said Brad Nye, president of Engage Communications. “The G6 and C2 products will provide the foundation for our new service offering and allow us to explore other future enhanced services that our customer base could find to be very valuable.”
“The G6 and C2 platforms are a logical choice for companies like Engage because of its flexibility, ease of use, and cost effective deployment,” said Charles Vogt, president and chief executive officer at GENBAND. “Service providers can deploy the G6 with as little as 240 DSOs and cost effectively increase capacity to more than 16,000 DSOs by simply adding cards to the chassis. Once installed, the products can be simultaneously used for a variety of access and trunking gateway solutions while providing ESA for both circuit and packet-based subscribers; giving the service provider the ability to leverage their asset and grow revenues with many different applications.”
GENBAND’s C2 Signaling Controller is an open standards-based, IMS-compatible platform providing both media gateway control and signaling gateway capabilities. With SIP networks growing worldwide, a critical need exists to link these networks to the legacy PSTN and SS7 networks. The C2 platform enables this linkage via its advanced SIP to SS7 signaling interworking. This provides tremendous advantages to service providers’ SIP networks – allowing access to the legacy LNP, 800, and CNAM databases. The platform’s media gateway control functions allow for efficient set-up and tear-down of bearer sessions to the G6 Universal Media Gateway or other PSTN gateways.
Introduced to the market in early 2001, the G6 Universal Media Gateway has evolved to meet the ever-changing demands of a variety of incumbent, cable, and competitive service providers needing to deploy a new IP-based voice network or migrating from Class 5 network infrastructures to softswitch-controlled networks. GENBAND’s G6 customers range from the largest North American incumbent service providers to independent telephone companies and large and small competitive and cable service providers across the globe.
The G6 Universal Media Gateway is RUS listed, OSMINE certified, PacketCable™ qualified, NEBS-3 certified and produced in a TL 9000 registered quality management system. The G6 is deployed in switching offices, headends and various Points of Presence all over the world. It is proven interoperable with and simultaneously supports the leading Class 5 switches, softswitches, SIP application servers, digital loop carriers (DLCs), and customer premises equipment (CPE).
