GENBAND Session Border Controller Certified in GSMA PathFinder Programme

Plano, TX, March 30, 2009 – GENBAND Inc., a market-leading developer of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, today announced that its S3 Session Border Controller (SBC) has received certification from the GSMA PathFinderTM Industry Partner Programme.

PathFinder is a private global address registry infrastructure developed by the GSMA and operated by NeuStar to facilitate the efficient interconnection of IP-based services by all types of communications service providers including mobile operators, fixed-line carriers and transport intermediaries.  Based on open ENUM industry standards, PathFinder simplifies the discovery of terminating address information for voice, messaging, and other emerging services that are available for, or require IP-based interconnect. GENBAND’s S3 SBC provides secure connectivity to proactively manage interconnect quality, capacity, and availability, supporting carrier interconnect agreements for national call routing, international long distance and local PSTN termination.

“We’re very pleased to pass certification, and we appreciate the role that the GSMA and NeuStar have played in creating PathFinder, which simplifies the interconnection of IP networks by extending the utility of telephone numbers,” said Bob Kersey, Vice President of Business Development at GENBAND. “Combining the S3 SBC with PathFinder provides customers with a ‘win-win’ by making the transition to all-IP more seamless and by providing unrivaled interconnect security with the ability to retrieve the proper address. We look forward to working with NeuStar in making this program a success.”

“GENBAND’s SBC receives certification without exceptions,” said Steve Edwards, Senior Vice President of Converged Addressing at NeuStar. “GENBAND’s leadership in transitioning operators to IP and securing all-IP environments makes them an ideal certified partner and resource for operators. We’re excited to work together with GENBAND in making our combined solutions available for operators worldwide.”

Session Routing for IP-to-IP Interconnects
Mobile and fixed-line network operators are rapidly implementing IP-based VoIP and multimedia services, creating a growing global demand for interconnection (or “peering”) of IP traffic at the borders of service provider networks. GENBAND's S-Series platforms – the S3 SBC and SBC for S2 and S9 Integrated Border Gateways – provide advanced intelligent routing, session management and policy control to meet the expanding need for IP-to-IP interconnects.
