An overview of GENBAND’s marketing-leading product portfolio follows.
GENBAND GENiUS Platform
As a cornerstone of the roadmap unveiled today, GENBAND announces an all-IP ATCA “GENiUS” Platform that will encompass GENBAND’s application, call control, session border and security product lines. The GENBAND GENiUS platform will incorporate high-performance, high-density computing hardware and sophisticated Service Availability Forum (SAF) compliant middleware, delivering the highest functionality, availability and robustness in the market. By utilizing open standards-based components in a common platform, GENBAND is simplifying the network for service providers, partners and suppliers, and laying the foundation to deliver future applications.
Applications
The GENBAND A-Series™ Applications Portfolio is a central component of the Company’s vision for Next Generation Networks (NGN) and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). By supporting a wide range of applications, from Messaging and Collaboration to Business Services and Cloud-based communication capabilities as well as third-party applications via open interfaces, the Adaptive Application Engine or A2E and the Wireless Call Continuity platform or WMG 6000 acquired from Nortel are essential elements of GENBAND’s NGN and IMS product portfolio. Moving forward, these product brands will be known as the A2™ and A6™ respectively. This suite of application products is hardware-independent and can also leverage the GENBAND GENiUS ATCA platform strategy, allowing service providers to quickly add new revenue-generating services and enhanced service customization over multiple IP access networks.
Call Control
The GENBAND C-Series™ Call Control Portfolio includes the C3 platform as well as Nortel’s market-leading softswitch platforms, the CS 1500 and the CS 2000. Moving forward, the CS 1500 will be known as the C15. Leveraging the GENBAND GENiUS ATCA platform, GENBAND unveils the C20 with a greatly-reduced footprint, higher capacity, a broadened feature-set and simplified installation and turn-up compared to its CS 2000 predecessor. For IMS networks, the CS 2000, C20 and C15 will support both Access and Media Gateway Control Functions (AGCF / MGCF) while the C3 will support Media Gateway Control Functions (MGCF).
Gateways
The GENBAND G-Series™ Gateway Portfolio includes the G2™ and G6™ Universal Gateways, the G9™ Converged Gateway as well as the former Nortel CVAS MG 9000 and MG 15000 media gateways. GENBAND’s G2 and G6 access and trunking media gateways cost-effectively simplify the network transformation by grooming and consolidating TDM lines and by implementing a unique packet line gateway function. GENBAND’s flagship G9 Converged Gateway is recognized as the most advanced, second generation converged media gateway in the industry. The G9 supports fixed, wireless and emerging solutions such as IMS voice and video transcoding as well as Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC). The G9 product roadmap includes integrated session border control, video and enhancements to its high-definition voice functionality.
Security
The GENBAND S-Series™ Session Border Controller (SBC) Portfolio includes the S3™ and S9™ as well as the SR3™ Session Router, providing market-leading scalability, unmatched service visibility, routing flexibility and interoperability for access and interconnect solutions. Based on the GENBAND GENiUS ATCA architecture, the S9 SBC provides the highest scalability in the market. These products are further enhanced by added IMS edge capabilities that provide maximum deployment flexibility with standalone as well as decoupled options in various form factors. These SBC products are fully integrated into GENBAND’s end-to-end offerings, allowing service providers to offer a wide range of solutions such as Hosted Services for small and medium enterprises and Consumer Voice over Broadband solutions.
The S2 Security Gateway is a key building block of FMC solutions such as Femtocells, and WiFi-based Mobile Data Offload and Coverage solutions, providing leading-edge security at the highest scale in the market. The ATCA-based security platform, now coupled with GENBAND’s A-Series Application products, provides service providers with complete session continuity for both their voice and data applications.
Universal Management
Complementing the GENBAND GENiUS platform is GenView™ which brings GENBAND’s entire product portfolio under one universal management system. GENBAND is aggressively investing and expanding its open management platform that will integrate the newly-acquired Nortel elements as well as other complementary elements within the Company’s ecosystem.
