Austin, Texas -- General Bandwidth, a leading Voice over IP equipment manufacturer enabling rapid deployment and new service revenue generation over broadband networks, today announced the expansion of its Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) and Asia Pacific presence, demonstrating continued growth worldwide for its products. The company also announced that it has appointed Hari Haran as General Bandwidth’s vice president of international sales.

General Bandwidth’s new regional capabilities will complement and enhance its Texas-based North America headquarters. International operations were launched to serve the rapidly growing global service provider market, including next-generation carriers as well as established service providers throughout the EMEA, CALA and Asia Pacific regions. General Bandwidth’s continued international expansion will also enable the company to better support its current customers in Europe and Asia, such as Cabovisão, the second leading cable operator in Portugal, and Asia Pacific Broadband Telecom, the largest cable operator in Taiwan, as they continue to develop their next-generation voice infrastructure leveraging the G6® platform, which was recently awarded “Best in Class” designation among access and trunk media gateways by Heavy Reading, the research division of Light Reading.

Joining General Bandwidth to manage the international business is telecom industry veteran Hari Haran. Hari has more than 20 years of experience in the telecom industry, with more than 12 years at Lucent Technologies where he was the vice president and general manager of the EMEA regions. He has also held sales and product marketing positions with AT&T Network Systems. His experience involves successfully managing sales, marketing, and technology operations with an established history in opening new markets and channels in the telecom space.
