General Bandwidth Successfully Completes Interoperability Testing with VocalData for IP Centrex Solution
Austin, TX – General Bandwidth, a leading telecommunications equipment provider enabling carriers to deliver enhanced voice services over broadband networks, announced today an interoperability alliance with VocalData, an application developer of hosted IP telephony services. General Bandwidth's completion of initial interoperability testing with VocalData enables delivery of an integrated, SIP-based IP Centrex platform that will enable service providers to offer a wide range of traditional Centrex as well as new revenue-generating features to enterprise customers.
“General Bandwidth has built a SIP-based PRI gateway platform that delivers the redundancy, scalability and reliability required for broad deployments of enhanced voice services across large carrier networks,” said Brendon Mills, CEO of General Bandwidth. “Through our interoperability alliance with VocalData, carriers will now have a scalable, hosted communications solution which will provide a compelling IP Centrex service to enterprise customers seeking to deploy IP PBX functionality without having to invest in their own equipment and support costs.”
“VocalData strives to provide maximum flexibility to carriers by providing interoperability with the widest variety of IP endpoints, gateways, and softswitches,” said Mark Whittier, vice president of corporate marketing, VocalData. “As carrier deployments continue to grow in size, we find it more important than ever to work with partners such as General Bandwidth, who can complement VocalData's strength in carrier grade performance.”
VocalData's flagship product VOISS™ is a feature-rich, standards-based voice application server that enables service providers to grow their revenues by supplying businesses with IP Centrex, hosted PBX, VoIP VPN, and enhanced services such as conferencing and unified messaging. By accessing hosted PBX capabilities delivered by a service provider using the VocalData platform, businesses see a 25% reduction in their communications costs by avoiding the upfront expense of a PBX.
General Bandwidth's G6 platform simultaneously supports not only SIP-based IP Centrex services with feature servers, but also supports MGCP-based softswitch as well as Class 5 derived voice services over a variety of broadband access networks such as fiber, coax, DSL/T1 and fixed wireless technologies. With its ability to support 10 to 140 T1 ports per chassis, the G6 platform is “right-sized” for large and small carrier deployments. The G6 platform offers 99.999% availability and meets or exceeds the most stringent requirements for central office environments, including NEBS Level 3 certification, as well as passing all ILEC extended NEBS certification tests.
