Integra Telecom Extends Relationship with GENBAND for IP Media Gateways and Signaling

June 16, 2008, Plano, TX - GENBAND Inc., a market-leading developer of next-generation IP gateways and application solutions, today announced that Integra Telecom Inc., a facilities-based integrated communications carrier for business, is deploying the GENBAND G9 Converged Media Gateway™ and the GENBAND C3 Signaling Controller™ to support Integra’s expanded service offerings and geographic market reach.

Integra Telecom specializes in providing voice, data, and multimedia services to business customers in 11 states, including: Minnesota, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah and Washington.  In 2007, the company launched Voice and DSL service in select metropolitan markets in Arizona, California and Idaho.  This new deployment complements existing GENBAND products that are operational on Integra’s network.

“Customer service is at the core of Integra’s business model and it is critical that we’re able to add new subscribers and services to our network quickly and efficiently,” said Dave Bennett, senior vice president of engineering for Integra Telecom. “GENBAND solutions give us the capabilities we need to effectively compete in all of our markets; offering our customers a range of new telecommunications features.”

“With these additional GENBAND solutions, Integra Telecom expands their ability to deliver Class 4 and Class 5 services to businesses customers in a growing number of geographic markets,” says Dan Lakey, executive vice president of sales for GENBAND.  “By leveraging the capabilities of the G9 Converged Media Gateway, Integra can add the services and the new subscribers needed to achieve their aggressive growth strategy.”

The GENBAND G9 Converged Media Gateway is a high-density trunking media gateway architected for both fixed and mobile service providers. Built on the field-proven software base of the 8000 Media Gateway deployed globally since 2001, the G9 platform scales up to tens of thousands of ports and offers an extensive suite of fixed line network interfaces and features, as well as multiple GSM, UMTS, UMA and CDMA-specific features and codecs for use by mobile operators.  The G9 platform is a multi-fabric media gateway that allows services to be switched in native modes and between IP and TDM via provisionable features, functions, modules and cards.  The product’s support of IP, TDM and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) architectures makes the G9 platform ideal of operations transitioning gradually to IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) networks without requiring the costly replacement of existing network equipment.

The GENBAND C3 Signaling Controller is a media gateway controller with an integrated signaling gateway providing advanced routing for voice calls across a service provider's legacy or broadband networks. The architecture of the C3 platform ensures that it is protocol independent of incoming and outgoing facilities and signaling types. Using commercially available, carrier-grade hardware, the C3 platform is a highly scalable product that supports a wide range of advanced routing, signaling, and services as well as required regulatory capabilities.
