Interoute Selects Sonus Networks to Provide Next-Generation Network Services

Network to support enhanced voice services, benefiting mobile, corporate and enterprise customers

LONDON, ENGLAND and WESTFORD, Mass., November 1, 2002 - Interoute, owner and operator of Europe's most advanced and densely connected fibre-optic network, and Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS), a leading provider of voice infrastructure solutions for the new public network, today announced that Interoute has chosen Sonus to build out its next-generation voice network. The Sonus-based network will allow Interoute to provide enterprises and mobile service providers with enhanced voice services.

Under the terms of the contract, the companies are collaborating to build a pan-European next-generation network that supports a variety of enterprise communications services. As the foundation of the network implementation, Interoute has begun deploying a complement of Sonus' industry-leading packet voice solutions, including the GSX9000(TM) Open Services Switch, the Insignus(TM) Softswitch and the Sonus Insight(TM) Management System.
