LOGIX Communications Selects General Bandwidth for Packet Voice Services
Austin, Texas, June 21, 2004 – General Bandwidth®, a leading Voice over IP equipment manufacturer enabling rapid deployment and new revenue generation over broadband networks, has been selected by LOGIX Communications(SM) to deliver integrated packet voice and data services over their T1 facilities.
LOGIX Communications, an integrated communications company that provides voice and data services to businesses in Texas and Oklahoma, will initially be deploying General Bandwidth’s carrier class G6 VoIP Media Gateway in their Dallas and Houston markets with future expansion into additional markets in early 2005. Seeking to reduce overall operational costs while providing differentiated voice services over T1, LOGIX Communications plans to deploy the G6 platform to deliver voice over ATM and VoIP Business ServicesTM (VBS) which include up to 32 voice channels per T1 line, converged voice and data services over a single T1 line, as well as IP Centrex.
“LOGIX has a long tradition of delivering innovative yet reliable voice and data services to small and medium sized businesses in Texas and Oklahoma,” says Matt Asmus, COO of LOGIX Communications. “With General Bandwidth’s ability to rapidly enable new packet-based voice services with unmatched voice quality and reliability, LOGIX is well-positioned to maintain our tradition of service excellence as we migrate our TDM network to packet-based services.”
“As one of the leading gateway solutions for competitive carriers seeking to rapidly deploy packet-based business services, we are pleased to add LOGIX to our growing list of VoIP Business Services customers,” says Brendon Mills, President and CEO of General Bandwidth. “With the deployment of the G6 platform, LOGIX immediately creates new revenue growth while enhancing their competitive position and offering customers additional value.”
With General Bandwidth's VoIP Business Services, static T1 and PRI lines are a thing of the past. Enabled by the G6 VoIP Media Gateway, VBS gives service providers a "burstable"data & voice service offering that is far superior to current services and a much more attractive, competitive offering for the lucrative business customer.
Both “trunk" and "line" VBS capabilities are enabled by the G6 platform, meaning that POTS, key system, and PBX customers all benefit from this service. Call control and features can be delivered from Class 5 switches, SIP Feature Servers, or Softswitches, and VBS works in both VoIP and VoATM networks. Service Providers benefit, too, by eliminating the costs of separate facilities for voice and data, and reducing the need for DACS and premises equipment.
