Marcatel Selects GENBAND and NetNumber Solution to Upgrade its Mission-Critical Infrastructure

Plano, TX, March 9, 2016GENBAND, a leading provider of real-time communications solutions today announced that Marcatel, one of Mexico’s largest carriers, has selected GENBAND for the delivery of an interconnect solution integrating the NetNumber TITAN Signaling Transfer Point (STP).

“We selected GENBAND to integrate the NetNumber TITAN STP application because of their long-standing successful relationship and the resulting flexible, future-proof solution,” said Manuel Zavaleta,    Marcatel’s Chief Operating Officer. “This agreement builds on our previous relationship and we’re confident that it will allow us to enjoy a superior level of customer care while better serving our own end-users.”

NetNumber is partnering with GENBAND to integrate its Signaling Transfer Point (STP) application into GENBAND’s industry-leading portfolio to offer market-leading interconnect and IMS solutions. The joint solution enables Communications Service Providers to achieve unprecedented levels of scalability, efficiency and profitability in their networks, enabling optimal route decisions, route quality and profitability. Marcatel has already deployed a number of GENBAND’s market-leading solutions in its network, including the Q20 SBC, C3 Call Session Controller and G9 Media Gateway.

“Key Service Providers like Marcatel in Mexico continue to boost their efficiency, enrich their product offerings and gain more functionality within their network, in line with latest wave of regulatory changes and interconnection requirements,” said John Ryan, GENBAND Senior Vice President of Americas Sales. “Marcatel represents a brilliant example of how our partnership and solutions with NetNumber allow our customers to quickly adapt to these changes, while reaping the benefits and flexibility of a much enhanced signaling infrastructure.”

NetNumber TITAN provides a multi-protocol framework for a converged network, supporting more than 15 different signaling applications, such as DSC (Diameter), CRE (SIP), SS7 Firewall, LNP, ENUM/DNS.  The NetNumber STP application offers SS7/C7 STP and Signaling Gateway (SG) services over traditional time-division multiplexing (TDM) networks and/or IP-based SIGTRAN networks. NetNumber TITAN is deployed on more than 350 servers across Africa, North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Asian and Australia/New Zealand.  Its robust subscriber data management capability supports more than 200 billion transactions per month.

“Carriers will continue to operate legacy and next-generation networks for years to come,” said Matt Rosenberg, vice president of NetNumber Global Sales, Solution Design and Product.  “The complexity inherent in this transition makes service agility difficult to achieve.  However, carriers like Marcatel can deploy a multi-protocol signaling control platform such as NetNumber TITAN to reduce the signaling traffic between the separate but inter-related SS7, ENUM, LTE and IMS functions in their legacy and next-generation networks.  The result is a network core that can support faster time-to-market of new service offerings, while minimizing the impact to legacy services and to the OSS/BSS systems.
