Mavenir Systems and GENBAND Collaborate on Innovative Network Convergence Solutions
(Richardson, Texas and Las Vegas – March 31, 2008) – Mavenir Systems, an innovator in service delivery network technology, and GENBAND Inc., a market-leading developer of next-generation IP gateways and application solutions, today announced they are collaborating on joint convergence solutions to assist operators to rapidly deploy new multimedia services over all devices and offer next generation services utilizing existing legacy infrastructure.
Tier one operators in North America and EMEA, in various stages of trials and acceptance, are currently utilizing the technology to offer any service to any device. A variety of applications are being utilized, including VoIP services provided directly from an existing 2G/3G core for primary and secondary line service. The technology is also providing operators with intelligent interworking for femtocell gateways and multiple domains. As a result, operators improve the user experience, allowing consumers to benefit from presence notification within the home’s femto zone, single number portability, mobility across mobile and fixed devices, and control over their reachability.
“GENBAND and Mavenir share an objective to provide our customers with next-generation solutions that enable them to offer personalized services and extend mobile communities to any device, resulting in increased revenue potential,” said Pardeep Kohli, President and CEO for Mavenir Systems. “With GENBAND’s technology, we’re able to leverage our innovation and provide operators with a flexible, scalable solution.”
“Mavenir utilizes our media gateways for a practical solution that serves as the building block for operators to quickly introduce advanced convergence services and implement next generation network migration,” said Charles Vogt, President and CEO at GENBAND. “In collaborating, we support market demand by combining best in class technology, a new approach to IMS services, and emerging technologies like femtocell and WiMAX in a proven solution.”
Mavenir Systems offers innovative, pragmatic solutions for global service providers to bridge IP-based service delivery architectures with traditional mobile infrastructure through its mOne Intelligent Convergence Engine. Mavenir incorporates GENBAND’s G9 Converged Media Gateway™ in mOne, allowing operators to utilize their legacy network infrastructure to deliver IMS services directly to 2G and 3G-CS mobile devices and to offer innovative services to their customers. Together, these solutions support the migration to fixed mobile convergence networks, bridge next generation services to all networks and ensure interoperability for WiMAX, femtocell and IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) applications.
GENBAND’s G9 converged media gateway is a true next-generation platform that builds upon the company’s first-generation system, the 8000 Media Gateway, field-hardened globally for seven years across more than 27 million ports, making it a worldwide market-share leader. The G9’s support of secure IP, TDM, and ATM architectures makes the G9 platform ideal for operators transitioning gradually to IMS networks without requiring the costly replacement of existing network equipment.
