For Immediate Release: December 16, 2015
Richardson, TX – December 16, 2015— Taqua, a leading supplier of IP communications systems, applications and services to mobile and fixed operators, today announced that Sonus Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: SONS), a global leader in secure and intelligent Cloud communications, and Taqua have partnered to bring a fully virtualized, standard mobile core network solution to market that provides mobile operators the quickest path to commercial rollout of Wi-Fi Calling services, also known as Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi). MobiFone Corporation, one of the largest mobile network operators in Vietnam, recently launched its Wi-Fi Calling service using the combined solution from Taqua and Sonus.
Under the terms of the partnership agreement, Taqua is integrating and reselling Sonus’s Session Border Control (SBC) portfolio with Taqua’s Virtual Mobile Core (VMC) to deliver advanced communications services to mobile network operator including VoWiFi and Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE). “Wi-Fi Calling cost-effectively solves the indoor coverage challenge that has plagued the mobile industry since day one," said Frederick Reynolds, vice president of marketing for Taqua. "Ultimately, it improves customer satisfaction and lowers churn. By combining Taqua’s virtualized IMS core with with Sonus’s virtualized SBC, mobile operators can get a Wi-Fi Calling service to market quicker than ever before.
