WESTFORD, Mass. – Sonus Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: SONS), a global leader in secure and intelligent Cloud communications, announced today that NuWave Communications, a leading wholesale and retail telephony provider, selected the Sonus SBC 7000 Session Border Controller (SBC) and PSX Centralized Policy and Routing Engine as the foundation for its new Microsoft Skype for Business Cloud Communication and Collaboration offering. NuWave’s new offering eliminates enterprises’ requirements for on-premises hardware, reducing equipment costs while accelerating Skype for Business deployment.
Based in Las Vegas, NuWave provides traditional enterprise telecommunications services, such as direct inward dialing and toll-free services. With resurgent interest from customers for hosted services, NuWave expanded its enterprise portfolio to include hosted PBX and Skype for Business applications.
A fundamental requirement when moving to a hosted communications offering is security, as the communications infrastructure no longer sits on the customer’s premises. The Sonus solution provides NuWave customers with robust security functionality, allowing them to connect, collaborate and communicate seamlessly and securely. The Sonus SBC 7000 and PSX combination also delivers industry-leading scale, intelligent routing, geo-redundancy and simplified network management. Additionally, NuWave selected Sonus as its underlying architecture based on Sonus’ integration with the Skype for Business platform. NuWave has already begun to move new customers onto its Sonus-based network, citing an ability to quickly turn up and customize services as an early benefit.
