Leading VoIP Provider Expands Sales Team to Support Growing Carrier Demand

Swindon, UK, March 6, 2006 - Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS), a leading supplier of service provider Voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure solutions, today announced that it has expanded its European regional sales team in response to increased demand by carriers looking to leverage the benefits of Sonus' award-winning IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)-ready solutions.

“Over the past year, we have witnessed a dramatic increase in the demand for next generation VoIP solutions throughout the European region,” said Bettina Tratz-Ryan, Research Director, Networking & Communications Equipment with Gartner, Inc. “There are few vendors that have established a footprint in this market, and Sonus is one of them.”

David Gontharet has been appointed as sales director for Southern Europe, bringing ten years' telecoms sales experience to Sonus. Prior to joining Sonus, David held senior sales management positions across Europe and Asia while at Alcatel, Lucent and Cosine Communications. The Southern Europe sales engineering team will also be supported by the addition of Ian Chab, a sales engineer with strong telecoms experience, and a former member of Lucent, NetCentrex and SFR.

“These appointments follow recognition that the market is developing fast in Southern Europe, with many carriers assessing the potential of technologies such as Voice over Broadband and IMS,” said Joop van Aard, vice president Europe, Sonus Networks. “These latest appointments bring with them deep industry knowledge, and both will be great assets to the growing European team at Sonus.”
