Sonus Networks:

SUMMARY:         -- Sonus Networks enhances SMB and branch office SBCs, enabling new revenue streams for service providers offering hosted and managed UC services.
-- The Sonus SBC 1000 and Sonus SBC 2000 offer a high level of security and quality for branch office deployments, becoming first survivable branch appliances to be Microsoft Lync 2013 qualified.

WHAT:

Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS), a global leader in SIP Communications, announces general availability of Release 2.2 of both the Sonus SBC 1000 Session Border Controller and Sonus SBC 2000 Session Border Controller.

With this release, Sonus is introducing several features that ease service provider deployments into Microsoft® Lync™ environments, positioning the Sonus SBC 1000 and Sonus SBC 2000 as natural choices for managed services.

Specifically, new managed services features in both solutions include multi-forest Active Directory support for hosted Microsoft Lync deployments as well as access control lists for better security and control over network traffic. This not only allows enterprise customers to seamlessly migrate to Microsoft Lync but also enables new revenue streams for service providers.

Sonus is also further enhancing branch office connectivity and survivability for Microsoft Lync deployments through support for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server functionality and dynamic routing. The Sonus SBC 1000 and Sonus SBC 2000 can be configured as all-in-one survivable branch appliances (SBAs) to ensure the Microsoft Lync Server will operate at a high level of security and quality in branch offices during wide area network (WAN) failures. During such an outage, the Sonus SBC 1000 and Sonus SBC 2000 manage intra-branch voice calls and IM sessions as well as inter-branch communications and voice mail retrieval over the PSTN.

The Sonus SBC 1000 and Sonus SBC 2000 are the first SBAs to be Microsoft Lync 2013 qualified.

Additional highlights of Release 2.2 in both products include virtual local area network (VLAN) support, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message manipulation (SMM), ping and traceroute support, DiffServ Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) support and port mirroring.

Sonus gives customers the industry's only full suite of end-to-end SBC solutions delivering SIP-enabled applications from the central office to the branch office.
