Sonus Networks Appoints IBIL as Partner for Malaysia
Sonus Signs on Local Telco Systems Integrator IBIL as its Malaysian Partner, Establishes Regional Office in Kuala Lumpur
WESTFORD, Mass., May 28, 2003 – Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS), a leading provider of voice infrastructure solutions for the new public network, today announced that it has appointed leading Malaysian telco systems integrator, IBIL, as its partner in Malaysia. Sonus also announced the establishment of a regional office in Malaysia.
"The voice over IP (VoIP) market in Malaysia is a very dynamic and rapidly growing sector," said Jack Tee, regional sales director, South Asia, Sonus Networks. "We see a lot of potential in this multi-million dollar market and with our new partner, IBIL, we aim to replicate in Malaysia the success we have had with service providers in other parts of Asia, such as Fusion Communications in Japan."
In 2001, Fusion Communications, Japan's first and premier IP-centric telecommunications carrier, deployed Sonus' full range of packet voice solutions as the foundation of their next-generation voice network. This win was recognised by the leading IT market analysis and positioning services firm Aberdeen Group as one of the most important VoIP deployments of 2001 and 2002.
Sonus has selected IBIL to focus specifically on the local telecommunications operators sector, which includes both the wireless and fixed line markets. IBIL has a proven track record in implementing various products to the same service providers that Sonus is targeting in the region. With more than a decade of experience, IBIL has established its reputation in the telecommunications, networking and telecommunications infrastructure industry for high quality solution delivery, timely completion of projects and unsurpassed attention to customer service. IBIL has undertaken major projects for some of Malaysia's leading organisations, including Telekom Malaysia Berhad and Celcom Petronas Network (CPN), currently know as Petrofiber Network.
"Sonus is widely acknowledged as a market leader and world leader in carrier class VoIP packet solutions, and we see a lot of potential in working together for future projects," said Tan Sri Dato' Zaki Tun Azmi, chairman, IBIL. "We are extremely pleased with this partnership, and look forward to a lasting and successful relationship."
Sonus has established a regional office in Kuala Lumpur, which will enable the company to directly support its customers and partners in the country. The Kuala Lumpur office is located at Level 40, Tower 2 PETRONAS Twin Towers KLCC 50088 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Tel: +60 3 2168 4468, Fax: +60 3 2168 4201.
