Sonus Networks Confirms Deadlines for Shareholder Proposals and Director Nominations for the 2009 Annual Meeting of Shareholders

WESTFORD, Mass., December 9, 2008 – Sonus Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: SONS), a market leader in IP communications infrastructure today confirmed the deadlines for shareholder proposals and director nominations for its 2009 annual meeting of shareholders, which will be scheduled as appropriate.
If a shareholder wishes to have a proposal considered for inclusion in the Company's proxy materials for the 2009 annual meeting, the proposal must comply with the SEC's proxy rules, be stated in writing and be received by the Company on or before the close of business on Friday, January 9, 2009. This deadline is established by the SEC's proxy rules and is later than the deadline previously disclosed by the Company in the Company's proxy statement for its 2008 annual meeting.
In addition, in order for a shareholder proposal, including nominations for directors, to be properly brought before the 2009 annual meeting, the proposal must comply with the Company's By-Laws and be received by the Secretary of the Company on or before the close of business on Friday, January 9, 2009. This deadline is established by the Company's By-Laws and is earlier than the deadline previously disclosed by the Company in the Company's proxy statement for its 2008 annual meeting.
