Leading Innovator Addresses PacketCable 2.0's Critical Role in Transforming Next Generation Networks

WESTFORD, Mass., August 2, 2007 – Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS), a leading supplier of service provider Voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure solutions, announced today that industry innovator, Vikram Saksena, Chief Technology Officer for Sonus Networks, will be speaking at CableLabs® Summer Conference 2007, which is being held August 5-8, 2007, at the Keystone Resort and Conference Center in Keystone, Colorado.

Saksena is scheduled to speak on August 8th at 11:00 am on a panel dedicated to PacketCable 2.0, and Saksena will be offering his perspective on converged services enabled by PacketCable 2.0.

Chief Technology Officer of Sonus Networks, a leading supplier of IMS-based network solutions, Saksena will address how the cable industry and other industries are converging on the principles of IMS as the foundation for IP networking platforms. Prior to Sonus, Dr. Saksena spent 16 years at AT&T building their data network services, software and network infrastructure for Frame Relay, ATM, and IP. He became an AT&T Fellow and Chief Technologist of the Data Networking Business Unit responsible for service and technology innovations around IP Quality of Service, Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS), and Voice over IP. Saksena also served as the CTO and VP of Engineering of Narad Networks, where he was focused on developing next generation technologies for the DSL and cable markets.

Sonus will also be participating with a demo of its Cable Mobile Convergence solution. Using the latest in cellular and PacketCable technology, this demonstration is comprised of several key elements including the Sonus core network, the Sonus Wireless Access Node, and premises-based femtocells. This demonstration has significant implications for Multiple System Operators (MSOs) as they seek to serve their residential and business subscribers better through a mobile offering based on the latest in PacketCable and cellular technology.
