BroadSoft™ and NeTrue Communications Become Newest Members of Open Services Partner Alliance™

WESTFORD, Mass., November 23, 1999 - Sonus Networks, the emerging leader in carrier-class packet telephony solutions, today announced that BroadSoft and NeTrue Communications have joined the Sonus Open Services Partner Alliance (OSPA). The addition of BroadSoft and NeTrue brings membership in the program to more than 20 leading telecommunications vendors. The OSPA allows carriers, application service providers, third-party independent service developers (ISDs) and telephony system software providers to rapidly develop and deliver competitive customer services and applications based on the Sonus Networks Open Services Architecture™ (OSA).

"Packet telephony is quickly gaining favor as the foundation of next-generation voice networks, not only because it delivers significant operational savings, but more importantly, it enables a range of innovative, revenue-generating services," commented Gary Rogers, Sonus vice president of marketing and sales. "We're extremely pleased that BroadSoft and NeTrue have joined the OSPA, and look forward to offering our carrier customers new options for developing, deploying and managing enhanced services."

BroadSoft allows service providers to offer innovative new communications services such as IP Centrex and other enhanced services through its flagship product BroadWorks™. BroadSoft builds on top of Sonus' Open Services Architecture to enable a range of differentiated, value-added communications services for CLECs, IXCs, ISPs and ICPs. Both end users and service providers will enjoy lower operational costs and greater ease of use from the integration of a standard web browser and a regular phone.

Working in the Alliance, NeTrue Communications offers a new generation Operation Support System (OSS) to help service providers manage the convergence of voice, data and fax over a single IP network. The rapid growth of IP telephony demands an OSS that can satisfy the quality of service and network management challenges arising from this emerging technology. NeTrue's IPT BackOffice will interwork with Sonus' Element Management System (EMS) to help carriers seamlessly manage their new IP networks, providing billing, Web/Java based customer care and customer-self service provisioning capabilities.

About Sonus' OSPA

Launched in June 1999, the OSPA has gained significant industry momentum, with membership of nearly two dozen leading independent vendors offering subscriber-specified and user-provisioned services for the New Public Network. The OSPA gives carriers the flexibility to both develop and integrate "best of breed" applications, creating important new revenue streams. For participating partners, the OSPA provides open, published APIs, comprehensive developer tools, testing and support services, technology exchanges and co-marketing and sales activities. Equally important, the Alliance provides a unified customer/vendor forum for creating interoperable standards and technologies.
