Sonus Networks Selected to Build New Infrastructure for Growing IP Voice Traffic on HyperCube’s Tandem Network

HyperCube LLC Provides Cost-Effective IP and TDM-Based Tandem Interconnection Services to All Types of Carriers

WESTFORD, Mass. and LANCASTER, Texas, October 6, 2009 – Sonus Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: SONS), providing network transformation through IP communications technology, and HyperCube, LLC, a premier provider of local and national tandem services to carriers across the United States, today announced that HyperCube has selected Sonus Networks to build the new infrastructure that will manage the growing volume of IP voice traffic on HyperCube’s network.

HyperCube, whose customers include the nation’s largest wireless and wireline network operators, is preparing for an increase in IP voice traffic across its network. The Sonus based network deployment is initially designed for secure IP-peering, session control and media management of IP traffic across the HyperCube network and as a gateway into HyperCube’s existing long distance core network. This network will allow HyperCube to simplify the management of IP and TDM traffic, making operations more efficient while offering increased capacity. HyperCube has enjoyed rapid growth in minutes of use on its network and anticipates growth to continue. Since its inception in late 2005, the number of minutes traversing HyperCube’s network has increased at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 57%.

“HyperCube is trusted by the nation’s largest carriers to manage their traffic and is therefore responsible for their reputation for quality of service and availability,” said Doug Davis, CTO for HyperCube LLC. “The integrated Sonus Network Border Switch was the only solution proven to carry the scale of traffic we anticipate, as well as support our standards for quality of service delivery. We view this selection as the start of a strategic and long-term relationship with Sonus Networks, as we develop our business plans to serve a wider variety of carriers across the US.”

“HyperCube is focused on maintaining the highest standards of quality and service availability in a competitive marketplace,” said Guru Pai, senior vice president & general manager at Sonus Networks. “HyperCube needed a solutions provider with the experience of large scale, hybrid network design and deployment to prepare for the changing mix of TDM and IP traffic seamlessly, efficiently and cost effectively. We look forward to supporting its future business plans."

HyperCube, LLC is deploying a full suite of Sonus' solutions, including the Sonus GSX9000™ with Sonus Network Border Switch, the Sonus PSX™ Policy Server, the Sonus SGX and the Sonus Insight™ Management System. By deploying the integrated media gateway with network border switch from Sonus Networks, HyperCube will be able to take advantage of a hybrid approach to their network, with TDM and IP traffic running efficiently through the same infrastructure.
