(Nasdaq: SONS), a market leader in next-generation IP-based network solutions, today announced that its Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Rajiv Laroia has received the 2011 Inventor of the Year Award by The New York Intellectual Property Law Association (NYIPLA) at the organization's recent annual event and awards dinner held this month in New York.

Each year at the annual meeting of members, NYIPLA presents the Inventor of the Year Award as a tribute to an individual or group of individuals who, through their inventive talents, have made worthwhile contributions to society by promoting "the progress of Science and useful Arts."

Established in 1922, NYIPLA is a bar association principally composed of lawyers interested in patent, trademark and copyright law. The organization currently serves as a vehicle to promote the development and administration of intellectual property interests. Today, NYIPLA exceeds 1500 intellectual property attorneys practicing throughout the United States and abroad.
