Sonus Participates in the First Independent Interoperability Test of NFV Infrastructure-to-Virtual Network Functions
Sonus SBC SWe Displays Integration with Juniper Networks® Contrail™ Networking in Phase 1 of the Interoperability Evaluation
For Immediate Release: December 21, 2015
Key Takeaways:
- Sonus joined the first industry-wide verification of multi-vendor interoperability of NFVIs-to-VNFs organized by the New IP Agency (NIA), Light Reading and European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC) in Germany.
- Sonus successfully tested with Juniper Networks® Contrail™ Networking, displaying the ability to dynamically configure the Sonus SBC SWe as a VNF.
- Sonus was the only participant within the test phase with its own VNF manager (VNFM), which successfully demonstrated its flexibility to interoperate with a NFVI using the Sonus VNFM.
WESTFORD, Mass. – Sonus Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: SONS), a global leader in secure and intelligent Cloud communications, announced today its participation and successful testing with Juniper Networks Contrail Networking in Phase 1 of the NFVI-VNF Interoperability Evaluation conducted by the NIA, Light Reading and the EANTC.
The testing, designed to accelerate the deployment of virtualized networks, marks the first public multi-vendor interoperability test of NFVI solutions with VNFs to be organized, planned, managed and executed by an independent third party. Sonus demonstrated integration with Juniper Networks Contrail Networking, showcasing package onboarding and deletion, VNF instantiation and forceful and graceful termination.
Sonus was the only vendor that brought its own VNFM to the testing, demonstrating its flexibility by providing an additional option to manage and complete the instantiation and configuration of a virtual SBC.
Quotes:
“We are pleased to see Sonus participating successfully in New IP Agency’s first test campaign, aiming to accelerate the deployment of multi-vendor virtualized networks,” said Carsten Rossenhoevel, managing director, EANTC. “It’s encouraging that Sonus added a convenient option to manage its VNF on third-party NFVIs by utilizing its own VNFM during the test.”
“Service providers today are looking for ways to migrate to a VNF based network with field trials and live deployments of VNFs,” said Mykola Konrad, Sonus, vice president, Go-to-Market. “The demonstration of Sonus’ SBC SWe with Juniper Networks Contrail Networking is an excellent proof point of Sonus’ leadership in the NFV ecosystem.”
Other Facts:
- Sonus is committed to driving industry progress towards successful Cloud deployments and will participate in Phase 2 of the evaluation in 2016.
- The Sonus SBC SWe provides a virtualized option that uses the same software as the Sonus SBC 5000 series and SBC 7000 with identical advanced feature functionality.
