Sonus Presents Next-Generation Managed Service Solution to Protect Enterprise IP Networks

For Immediate Release: March 27, 2017

Key Takeaways:

  • Sonus and leading firewall vendor collaborate to provide unprecedented UC security against potential exfiltration, malware, TDoS and theft of service attacks.
  • Sonus SBCs and firewall technology will share information to raise the trust level of UC in the network and raise the overall security posture of the enterprise.
  • Collaboration will allow Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to establish a differentiated security offer to their customers.

Orlando, Fla. – Sonus Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: SONS), a global leader in securing real-time communications in the Cloud, announced today a collaboration designed to mitigate the impacts of malware, telephony denial of service (TDoS) and other potential IP security threats. The collaboration increases the enterprise trust level by integrating the capabilities of Sonus Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and cutting-edge firewall technology.

Today, firewalls and SBCs operate independently and do not share insights on potential threats. This collaboration will enable Sonus SBCs and the firewalls to act in tandem, jointly leveraging both device’s security capabilities to raise the trust level of UC and the overall security posture of the enterprise. The Sonus SBC will signal the firewall to exchange critical provisioning and configuration information of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunks, allowing service providers to securely and quickly configure new SIP trunks for their enterprise customers. Additionally, the technology will share black-list and white-list information. With this functionality, malicious behavior can be identified and acted upon in real-time, unifying the enterprise IP data and UC security perimeters and helping MSPs complete a secure enterprise perimeter.

Quote:

“Businesses spend billions of dollars every year protecting data through firewalls and other data-centric security devices. Comparatively, the communications side remains relatively untouched,” said Kevin Riley, Sonus CTO and senior vice president, Engineering. “By combining Sonus SBC and firewall capabilities, Managed Service Providers can now raise the trust level of UC and the rest of the IP-network, protecting data and communications in one simple deployment.”
