Sylantro and Telecom Technologies Expand Partnership
- Sylantro's Applications Shine in Interoperability Testing and Receive telecom technologies' INIP PoweredSM Status -
RICHARDSON, Texas and CAMPBELL, Calif. - November 7, 2000 – telecom technologies inc., The Softswitch SourceSM and Sylantro Systems, an innovative software company supplying the industry's first carrier-grade applications-enabled switch for delivery of high-value voice services, today announced that Sylantro is now INIP PoweredSM. Specifically, Sylantro's Applications Switch received this designation after successfully completing SIP interoperability testing with telecom technologies' INtelligentIP softswitch at telecom technologies' INIP Powered Interoperability Laboratory in Richardson, Texas. Now both Sylantro and telecom technologies will be able to bring their service provider customers an end-to-end solution for delivering network-hosted, next-generation telephony services to businesses.
Sylantro, based in Campbell, California, is a software company that offers service providers a new way to deliver innovative enhanced business voice services that customers can personalize and access via a browser. Sylantro's applications-enabled switch, combined with the company's "revenue-ready" and easy-to-deploy application modules (c-Business, ComCierge and ComTraveler) allow service providers to deliver advanced, managed telephony services to businesses of all sizes. Services based on Sylantro's technology enable business end users, for the first time, to fully outsource their telephony needs - they no longer need to purchase and manage a private branch exchange (PBX) or key system, or subscribe to an outdated Centrex service. Sylantro's Communications Suite of applications allows the end-user to directly manage, provision and personalize services and features across a wide array of subscriber devices - including analog phones, digital business phones, new IP phones, Cell phones and even Internet-enabled PDA's. Service providers can now give customers the control and flexibility that they desire, and at the same time off-load much of the typical carrier management and support burden. These responsive, easy to use services help the service provider to reduce customer churn and become a valued partner to their business customers.
The INtelligentIP softswitch provides the necessary link from Sylantro's applications to the existing public network. The softswitch provides connectivity to the PSTN by way of SS7 technology as well as connectivity to packet networks via SIP and MGCP. telecom technologies' softswitch also provides network services such as toll-free services and regulatory services such as local number portability (LNP) and access to 911. It is a scalable, carrier-grade softswitch platform that provides emergent carriers with an open, cost-effective solution to the packet-circuit network challenge. INtelligentIP provides the glue that binds application software and media-gateway hardware together, enabling carriers to successfully compete in the highly volatile and cost-conscious telecommunications marketplace. This softswitch also enables the carriers that build and operate "converged" networks to provide exciting new telecommunications services for businesses and consumers much more quickly and cost-effectively. By working together, Sylantro and telecom technologies can bring service providers a complete solution that includes advanced, revenue enhancing applications and support for the rich environment needed for interoperability with the PSTN.
"The dynamic interaction within the INIP Powered Program and Interoperability Lab allow us to move quickly with partners, like Sylantro, who have solid products that are ready for the market today. We are pleased to offer a joint solution with Sylantro," said Terri Griffin, Vice President of Marketing for telecom technologies.
The INIP Powered Program, an industry first, accelerates the deployment of voice-over-multi-service networks by integrating standards-based softswitches, media gateways, service delivery and creation systems, and unified voice and data applications with telecom technologies' INtelligentIP softswitch. The real value of the program is realized when members bring their equipment into the lab for testing with telecom technologies' INtelligentIP softswitch. Partners and carriers can watch the progress of the INIP Powered Interoperability testing via the Internet at www.inippowered.com/virtuallab.htm.
"The INIP Powered Program generates significant movement toward the industry's goal of plug-and-play interoperability. INIP Powered products provide service providers and enterprises with confidence that they are utilizing best-of-breed solutions in their networks," said Dave Scarborough, Sylantro's vice president of strategic alliances.
