Telecom Industry Veterans Matt Desch, Bo Hedfors and Steve Levy Join GENBAND Advisory Board

 

 

Plano, TX - GENBAND Inc., a leading provider of telecommunications infrastructure products enabling converged services, announced today that Matt Desch, Bo Hedfors, and Steve Levy have joined GENBAND’s Advisory Board.

Matthew J. Desch has held a variety of leadership positions within the telecommunications industry over the last 25 years. Mr. Desch is currently the chairman of Airspan Networks Inc., a leader in WiMAX technology he led through a successful IPO in 2000. From July 2002 until October 2005, Mr. Desch was the CEO of Telcordia Technologies, a private communications software and services supplier. Mr. Desch was also a member of the Board of Directors of Flarion, Inc., a mobile broadband equipment supplier acquired by Qualcomm Incorporated in January 2006. From 1987 through May 2000, Mr. Desch served in a variety of management positions with Nortel Networks including Executive Vice President and President of Nortel's Wireless Networks division, responsible for Nortel's global wireless infrastructure business. Mr. Desch began his career at AT&T Network Systems and AT&T Bell Laboratories (now Lucent Technologies). Mr. Desch has a B.S. from Ohio State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

With over 37 years of experience, Bo Hedfors is the founder of a telecom/internet consulting practice. Previously, he was Executive Vice President of Motorola and President of its global wireless infrastructure business. Prior to Motorola, Mr. Hedfors was with Ericsson, where he spent 30 years in different management positions including Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of LM Ericsson in Stockholm; and President and CEO of Ericsson, Inc. in Dallas. Bo is member of the boards of Tellabs (Nasdaq: TLAB), Openwave (NASDAQ: OPWV), Kineto Wireless, Virtutech, Inc., and publicly traded SwitchCore AB in Sweden. Bo has served as advisor to Sun, Compaq and HP, and is currently engaged as advisor to both small private and large public communications companies worldwide. Mr. Hedfors is a former long-term member of the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA). He has served on several university boards and is currently Chairman of US Friends of Chalmers University of Technology, Inc. Bo Hedfors holds a Master of Electrical Engineering degree from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden and he is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.

Steve Levy has more than two decades of Wall Street experience and most recently served as Managing Director and Global Head of Communications Technology Research at Lehman Brothers. Before joining Lehman Brothers, Mr. Levy was a Director of Telecommunications Research at Salomon Brothers, Managing Director and Head of the Communications Research Team at Oppenheimer & Co. and a senior communications analyst at Hambrecht & Quist. He is currently a Board Member of Zhone Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZHNE), Tut Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: TUTS), and PCTEL, Inc. (Nasdaq: PCTI). Mr. Levy received his M.B.A. and his B.S. in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1980 and 1978, respectively.
