Companies to Collaborate on Product Interoperability, Co-Marketing and Sales Initiatives

WESTFORD, Mass., September 28, 1999 - Sonus Networks today announced that Ubiquity Software Corporation has joined Sonus' Open Services Partner Alliance (OSPA). With nearly 20 participating vendors, the OSPA allows carriers, application service providers, third-party independent service developers (ISDs) and telephony system software providers to rapidly develop and deliver competitive customer services and applications based on the Sonus Networks Open Services ArchitectureTM (OSA).

As part of their activities in the Alliance, Sonus and Ubiquity will undertake initiatives to ensure interoperability between the companies' product lines. Additionally, the two companies will implement a co-marketing program and reference selling program, which will focus on helping service providers speed the process of identifying, selecting and deploying enhanced IP services in carrier networks.

"We are very excited to be working with an innovative market leader such as Sonus Networks," said Martin Sendyk, vice president, product marketing and general manager at Ubiquity. "Ubiquity's HelmsmanTM Service Creation Environment coupled with Sonus' advanced carrier-class networking products will put new power in the hands of enhanced IP service providers. Our partnership will allow these next-generation carriers to extend value-added IP services all the way to the end user's desktop."

"Today, everyone is trying to get a leg up on the competition, but only those carriers who identify, and rapidly deploy, the right combination of value-added services will succeed," said Gary Rogers, Sonus' vice president of sales and marketing. "We believe this partnership with Ubiquity will bring our carrier customers significant benefit, and we look forward to working together to further the broad-scale deployment of packet telephony solutions."

Enhanced IP service providers use Ubiquity's Helmsman Server and Service Creation Environment to rapidly build and deploy next-generation, revenue-generating services over IP networks. Working together in the Alliance, Ubiquity and Sonus will provide an advanced form of Application Power Networking by creating a direct interaction between business processes, the global telephone network and the Internet.

As part of their membership in the OSPA, Ubiquity will also collaborate with Sonus in a range of co-marketing and sales activities programs. These programs will include joint participation in industry events and conferences, online marketing opportunities, training seminars, reference selling and more.

About the Open Services Partner Alliance

Launched in June 1999, the OSPA has gained significant industry momentum, with membership of nearly 20 leading independent vendors offering subscriber-specified and user-provisioned services for the New Public Network. The OSPA gives carriers the flexibility to both develop and integrate "best of breed" applications, creating important new revenue streams. For participating partners, the OSPA provides open, published APIs, comprehensive developer tools, testing and support services, technology exchanges and co-marketing and sales activities. Equally important, the Alliance provides a unified customer/vendor forum for creating interoperable standards and technologies.
