Voyant's ReadiVoice IP Conferencing System Deployed with Sonus in Touch America's VoIP Network; Sonus/Voyant Solution Enables Touch America to Offer On-Demand Conferencing Services

WESTFORD, Mass., and WESTMINSTER, Colo., April 22, 2002 – Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS) and Voyant Technologies, Inc. today announced that Voyant has been named a Platinum Partner in Sonus' industry-leading partner initiative, the Open Services Partner AllianceSM (OSPA). To reach the Platinum level in the OSPA, partner companies must meet several criteria including deployment in a live, revenue-generating service provider network together with one or more Sonus products. National broadband carrier Touch America (NYSE: TAA) is offering IP-based conferencing services using Voyant's collaborative voice conferencing solution together with Sonus' packet voice infrastructure equipment.

"Customer focus is a main goal of Touch America, and this means providing communications connections easily and simply – anywhere, anytime," said John Real, director of product management for Touch America. "Our Business Anywhere Conferencing product uses the next-generation packet voice solution provided by Sonus and Voyant on our IP platform across 22,000 route miles of Touch America's broadband network. This allows us to rapidly and cost-effectively deliver on-demand conferencing services to customers, who just dial an access number and an optional account code to get connected. Business Anywhere combines the strengths of three leading-edge companies to provide robust and adaptable conference services that our customers want," he added.

Touch America has deployed its VoIP (voice over IP) network using the complete range of Sonus voice infrastructure solutions, including the GSX9000 Open Services Switch, the Insignus Softswitch and the Sonus Insight Management System. Sonus' award-winning packet voice solutions deliver toll-quality voice, system redundancy and the capacity to handle extremely large call volumes. Sonus' voice infrastructure solutions offer a single platform that allows carriers such as Touch America to support a host of communications services, including traditional long distance voice services, and enhanced services.

Touch America has also integrated Voyant Technologies' ReadiVoice IP collaborative voice conferencing solution into its IP platform to deliver Touch America's Business Anywhere Conferencing services. With Voyant's ReadiVoice IP, a reservationless, on-demand conferencing system, Touch America customers using Business Anywhere Conferencing services can initiate conference calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without having to make reservations or contact operators. The system offers subscribers convenient and easy access to conferencing services, and allows users to control calls using telephone touchtones or a Web-based interface.

"Touch America is focused on offering the most advanced technologies and services to keep up with the ever-changing communications needs of businesses users," said Terri Griffin, vice president, marketing, Sonus Networks. "With the SIP-based solutions provided by Sonus and Voyant, Touch America is delivering new services, such as reservationless conferencing, that build customer loyalty and drive minutes over Touch America's network. We are extremely gratified with the success of the Touch America network deployment, and are pleased that Voyant has attained Platinum Partner in the Sonus OSPA."

"Voyant is proud to reach Platinum status in the Sonus OSPA," said Michael Remacle, vice president, business development, Voyant Technologies. "Sonus has created a well-recognized partner alliance that has genuine influence on the enhanced services carriers implement today. The strength of the program has been validated in our cooperative affiliation with Touch America and their successful deployment of ReadiVoice IP."
