GENBAND Employee Ken Edwards to Give Back in a Very Special Way on GENBAND Day

We’re less than two weeks from our second annual GENBAND Day Global Day of Service and it’s easy to get lost in all of the day to day activities, coordination and planning that are required to pull off such a massive global event. Then you hear about amazing efforts, such as that of GENBAND employee Ken Edwards, which helps put everything into perspective.

Ken is a Software Engineer in our Raleigh, North Carolina office and has been diagnosed with an advanced stage of colon cancer.  Even though he will not be able to take part in GENBAND’s planned volunteer activities on June 1st due to chemotherapy treatments, Ken will be joining his American Cancer Society Relay for Life team’s "Spirit of Hope" relay event. The Relay for Life, which will be held from 6 pm June 1st to 6 am June 2nd, is an overnight relay-style event that allows teams of people to camp out around a track and members of each team to take turns walking around the track for the duration of the event to raise money for the fight against cancer. Ken, whose father also is battling cancer, has been involved in the event for years prior to being personally diagnosed with colon cancer earlier this year.

It’s inspirational stories such as Ken’s that make me proud to be part of such a great team and that make all of our efforts on GENBAND Day and throughout the year worthwhile. Ken truly embodies the Spirit of GENBAND and the entire team wishes him well in his fight!
