GENBAND Day 2011 – What a Great Day!

It’s hard to believe that it has been nearly a year since our inaugural Global Day of Service. June 1st 2011, was a great day for our organization and it made me, as well as our employees from around the globe who participated, proud to be a part of such an awesome experience. On that day GENBAND employees from around the world teamed together to volunteer over 5,000 hours of community service benefiting 65 charities in 16 countries!

At GENBAND, we are committed to fostering a spirit of year-round volunteerism by giving back to the communities in which we live and work. Last year employees selected local charities to provide special meaning to their respective communities. The organizations ranged from well-known charities like Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House, and Boys & Girls Clubs to local organizations such as the Ottawa Food Bank, Newland School in Maidenhead, UK (planting a community garden with a walking path and wheelchair accessibility), Cross Roads Village (Hong Kong-based organization that assist the needy), Renai Home for the Aged in Beijing and La Ladrillera Community School for underprivileged children in Mexico City.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be highlighting some of the great stories from our 2011 Global Day of Service as well as some of the non-profit organizations that we will be working with in 2012. I encourage you to visit our Global Day of Service page to view some of the great photos from last year’s volunteer events, that took place in virtually all regions of the world!
