Ribbon’s GSX9000 Gateway has been at the heart of the world’s largest VoIP networks for nearly a quarter of a century. The GSX9000 Gateway provides a high-quality bridge between circuit and packet-based voice networks. Its scale, resiliency, and ability to integrate into legacy environments, have stood the test of time.

Today, the GSX9000 is no longer actively sold for new deployments; however, it is still widely deployed, carrying billions of minutes per day. The GSX9000 is fully supported by Ribbon. Hardware and software upgrades are available, and the GSX9000 can still be used as a gateway element within a modern Ribbon ecosystem. Many network operators have already implemented IP in the core of their network. However, significant TDM circuits remain in networks, driving the need for providers to retain their GSX9000s for years to come.

The GSX9000 can continue to enable STIR/SHAKEN and Ribbon Call TrustTM deployments. The GSX supports the following capabilities:

  • Relay of STIR/SHAKEN information in SIP headers.
  • The GSX900 can generate an authentication or verification request to the PSX policy engine. SIP message information can be updated based on the PSX's response.
  • Flexible handling of error conditions if signature verification fails.

In addition, GSX CDRs can be ingested by Ribbon Analytics to assist in determining potential robocall or fraud call attempts.

Software Assurance Options

The GSX9000 is fully supported by RibbonCare Service Plans. From time-to-time Ribbon gets requests to deploy fully supported software in concert with legacy GSX9000 modules & software that are no longer supported; Ribbon can help. Ribbon has Software Assurance options that will support the deployment as part of a strategic plan to upgrade network elements and bring the deployment up to a supported software release. With the ability to customize the DSI feed to your specific BSS/OSS solutions, you get the ability to make better informed decisions and increase the efficiency of your network operations.
