Sonus Networks Advances Go-To-Market Strategy with Realignment of Marketing Organization to Target Key Growth Areas

New Marketing Programs Designed to Attack Global Market Opportunities and Bolster Company’s Leadership Position with World’s Largest Service Providers

WESTFORD, Mass.  , March 15, 2007 – Sonus Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: SONS), a leading supplier of service provider Voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure solutions, announced today that it is launching new dedicated-focus marketing programs that align directly to the Company’s target growth areas: Trunking Networks, Access Networks, Wireless Networks, and Applications, as well as a separate group focused on building Sonus’ corporate brand on a global basis.  The new alignment of Sonus’ marketing resources is designed to deliver scalable strategic initiatives that highlight the key differentiators that have earned Sonus a leading position in the dynamic next generation communications industry.  The Company also announced today that after three years of helping to grow Sonus’ marketing organization to support its global presence, the Company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Steve Edwards will step down at the end of the month to pursue other opportunities.

“Sonus is a leader in the next-generation IP voice market. The evolution of our marketing organization mirrors the development of the IP voice industry itself, and as the market for our solutions continues to accelerate, Sonus is committed to meeting the unique needs of network operators in each of our target growth areas,” said Hassan Ahmed, chairman and CEO, Sonus Networks. “Steve has done a fantastic job helping to build Sonus into one of the preeminent brands in the IP voice industry and establishing trusted relationships with today’s leading operators. We’re excited to build on the solid foundation he helped to establish and take Sonus’ marketing programs to the next level.”

The new design of the marketing organization reflects Sonus’ customer-first approach and strengthens the alignment among the Company’s marketing, engineering and global teams. In addition, it is designed to target more effectively Sonus’ global audiences, for which unique market dynamics are driving the demand for Sonus’ solutions.

According to independent market research from Synergy, Sonus already leads the market in key segments of the IP voice industry worldwide, as well as in North America and Japan . Carrying more than 4x the amount of IP voice traffic than any other vendor, according to iLocus Research, the percentage of traffic carried over Sonus’ IMS-ready networks has increased steadily in 2006 as more major network operators have migrated traffic onto their Sonus platform. In addition, Sonus continues to pioneer new opportunities through the development of advanced applications.

“Sonus is one of the most dynamic companies in the IP-voice industry, and it’s been a pleasure to lead the Company’s marketing initiatives during such a fascinating period of the industry’s development,” said Edwards. “The Company is poised to take the communications industry to the next level by setting new standards for performance and reliability.”
