Get Back in Driver’s Seat with Elastically Scalable VoLTE and VoWiFi Services
While the chatter on which Mobile VoIP solutions (OTT vs VoLTE) will win continues, Voice over LTE (VoLTE), VoWiFi, and Video communication over LTE (ViLTE) are picking up steam.
Many mobile operators globally launched VoLTE and VoWiFi services in 2014, and we will see many more being announced at Mobile World Congress this year in Barcelona. While the excitement continues, mobile service providers have a real challenge at hand – how to ensure the quality of experience that VoLTE promises to bring.
To ensure consistent user experience, mobile services providers must provide end to end high definition communication by assuring end to end IP connectivity and roaming. As service providers move to an all IP network, it is critical to mitigate new challenges such as security threats, SIP interoperability, and assure local breakout for VoLTE roaming as mandated by standards and regulations in certain countries.
Want to know what’s even more challenging? Next-generation IP communication services are not tied to a particular network or device and will span diverse networks (Cellular, WiFi, Web) and technologies (TDM, SIP, WebRTC). User will hop on and hop off from one network to another expecting mobile service providers to assure mobility, which no doubt is a challenge but also a killer differentiator.
In addition, subscribers and devices no longer communicate with the network only when a call is placed. Devices and applications are always on, always connected, generating a constant stream of non-voice traffic such as registration messages, alerts, presence and location updates. As a result operators will notice a changes in traffic patterns – causing uncertainties in predicting traffic scalability. To deal with this unpredictability and change in traffic patterns, mobile service providers will have to re-think how they design their mobile network to elastically adapt as the demands rise and shrink in different parts of their network – both for signaling and media traffic independently.
GENBAND’s software based mobile communication solutions ensure secure and profitable exchange of voice and multimedia services across any network border and any technology and provide seamless connectivity between disparate independent networks including TDM, legacy mobile, SIP-based NGN and IMS, LTE, web-based OTT applications; and assures secure and seamless VoLTE, VoWiFi, and LTE Roaming.
Come see us in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress (Hall 2, Booth 2I31) and experience how we can simplify your mobile network challenges with our elastically scalable NFV SBC (Session Border Controller) with independent signaling and media scalability; and intelligent session management solution for Voice, Video, and Messaging services and get you back in the driver’s seat to innovate. We’ll have a few other related surprises in store too – so visiting our booth is a must do this year!
