GENBAND Simplifies Service Provider Migration to IP with New C15 Softswitch Capabilities

Seattle, WA, July 28, 2010 – Continuing its leadership in supporting service provider migration to IP, GENBAND, a leading developer of IP solutions and services, today introduced a new Automated Cutover capability to its C15™ Compact Softswitch that eliminates downtime normally associated with network transitions to IP.

Introduced at the OPASTCO tradeshow (booth #27) in Seattle, GENBAND’s new Automated Cutover capability is an embedded software utility that equips services providers to migrate legacy networks to IP without having to “shut-down” their network or perform time-consuming “flash cutovers,” which can result in loss of service for end users.

“Migrating our network at any time, across multiple sites, without interrupting our subscribers’ service will significantly reduce the complexity of network transformation,” said Richie Parker, Chief Engineer, Surry Telephone Membership Corp. “In the past, we were limited to what we could complete in a single evening, during non-peak hours. GENBAND’s Automated Cutover capability gives us the flexibility to perform a phased migration and cutover which is more effective when migrating multiple and large central offices.”

The C15 Automated Cutover capability enables service providers to migrate multiple Central Offices on a site-by-site, frame-by-frame and line-by-line basis. During the network migration, inbound and outbound calls continue to route to the appropriate legacy TDM or C15 IP softswitch automatically. This unique innovation allows service providers to perform thorough testing of each line and trunk facility before, during and after the migration, which helps to ensure flawless network conversion and service reliability.

With GENBAND’s C15 softswitch, service providers can continue to use GENBAND’s DMS-10, DMS-100, DCO and EWSD equipment, allowing carriers to leverage their existing investments and reuse legacy line equipment, while migrating their core call control to a softswitch architecture.

“GENBAND is dedicated to providing our customers with innovative solutions that allow them to evolve their networks seamlessly and efficiently,” said Mehmet Balos, Chief Marketing Officer at GENBAND. “Our new software enhancements strengthen our C15 softswitch, which has been embraced by small and medium-sized service providers to support their existing services today while providing a simple, yet efficient path for advanced IP-based networks. With this announcement, we continue to build on our position as the industry leader in this space.”

GENBAND’s Professional Service experts who provide network planning, project management and cutover assistance also augment the new Automated Cutover feature. The Company’s Professional Services organization is staffed in North America by nearly 500 highly trained resources that specialize in the engineering, deployment, TDM to IP migration and support of legacy and NGN networks.

GENBAND’s C15 Compact Softswitch is a second-generation Carrier VoIP softswitch that enables regional and rural service providers to offer new advanced VoIP and data services while continuing to meet subscriber demand for traditional voice services.

According to recent reports from Infonetics, Synergy, and Dell’Oro, GENBAND is the #1 supplier in the global service provider VoIP market which includes softswitches, media gateways, session border controllers, media servers and application servers. In addition, according to Infonetics, GENBAND is the leading carrier IP softswitch supplier in North America, with more than 60% revenue share.
