Remembering a Very Special Day - for Me and GENBAND Employees Around the Globe

June 27th, 2014
Robin Wright Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Operations, GENBAND

A few weeks ago, on May 30th, GENBAND employees across the globe participated in our annual Global Day of Service. Instead of taking the day off (on a company-designated holiday), our employees rolled up their sleeves, opened their hearts and volunteered their time to the charity or non-profit organization of their choice. At GENBAND, we pride ourselves on being innovative and unique and our Global Day of Service really exemplifies these qualities.

I along with several other GENBAND colleagues spent our Global Day of Service supporting the New York Says Thank You Foundation, helping to restore a home affected by Hurricane Sandy in Brooklyn. We stepped outside of our office comfort zone by getting our hands dirty through carpentry tasks, handling sheet rock and cleaning around houses. This, along with other tasks we performed would help the under-insured families of active duty firefighters, emergency medical technicians, police officers and sanitation workers working and living in New York.

It was an eye-opening experience and a unique  opportunity not only to help someone who was impacted by this terrible natural disaster, but to bond with my co-workers. It truly was a special day.

I have heard numerous stories from our team members all around the world on what our Global Day of Service means to them and how much pride they take in giving back to their local communities. Many employees including our Chief Marketing Officer, Brad Bush, spent the day volunteering at more than one activity. To me this really speaks volumes to the culture of GENBAND and the true spirit and passion of our employees.

We have such a dedicated group of people that spent countless hours, in addition to doing their daily responsibilities at GENBAND, coordinating with the various organizations that our team members volunteer with to ensure that this huge undertaking is flawlessly executed each year. I wish to thank the team for making this year’s event another rewarding success.

During our Global Day of Service our employees from around the world volunteered more than 6,000 hours that benefitted more than 90 charities and the communities they support.

Here is a great video and a sampling of news coverage that encapsulates some of the activities that our team members participated in. Enjoy!
