Ribbon Day 2023: More People and Communities Served

July 13th, 2023

Our annual Global Day of Service, Ribbon Day, is a highlight for me and many Ribbon employees around the world. As we have grown as a company, it’s both thrilling and heartening to see this tradition being embraced by employees of all backgrounds and in all regions, making it a living, breathing part of our culture.

This year we hit a new milestone with more than 1,000 employees in 23 countries participating, adding up to more than 5,000 hours of time sharing some of our good fortune with others. I’m extremely proud of the contributions our people make to the communities they live in, helping to create a bit of light in what often feels like unsettling times.

Whether it’s a large team from one of our main offices or a remote worker participating individually, Ribbon employees are taking the time to have a positive impact. The sheer breadth of programs that people support is also wonderful, highlighting the multiple ways in which we can offer help to others, something that can be easy to lose sight of amid daily life.

Here are just a few examples:

Some of our Chennai employees visited the Hope Public Charitable Trust which helps house special needs children and differently abled people of all ages. The team spent time interacting with both children and adults and provided them with some meal packs, stationery items, drawing materials and fans to help manage the brutal heat.

Our Rome team helped La Nuova Arca maintain its thriving bee community by repairing their hives and ensuring continued honey production as well as the health of the bees that are so essential to our food supply.

And in the US, a group from our RTP campus volunteered with the Interfaith Food Shuttle to support their “Gardens for Everyone” project, aimed at helping low to moderate income households and communities build raised beds to grow food and help provide nutritious sustenance to those around them.

I couldn’t possibly list each and every one of the activities Ribbon employees participated in, but the range of activities and global nature is both impressive and inspiring. The list of organizations helped below is not quite exhaustive but gives a good overview.

As always, I want to thank the participating employees, the Engagement Committees who organized some of the larger initiatives, and the more than 44 charitable organizations we partnered with who do this work day in and day out – we are grateful for your service and your part in making the world a better place.
