Your Investment is Protected with Ribbon
We’ve been supplying some of the world’s largest carriers with session border controllers (SBCs) for a very long time. They work with us because we understand the importance of network security and up-time. Any disruption to communications services has a negative effect on revenue for both those utilizing and providing the service. That is why we’ve architected our SBCs to accept no-touch functionality upgrades.
Take the upcoming general availability of Direct Routing for Microsoft Teams as an example. This offers many the possibility of transitioning from an existing PBX to Phone System in Office 365. SBCs are, likely, already present in the organization and are an afterthought when deciding whether to move to Teams for calling. But, supporting Direct Routing requires certification and could mean changes to the SBC. You don’t want to have to take the SBC out of service for a period of time or, worse yet, replace it altogether. If you’ve made the decision to purchase a Ribbon SBC, you can feel comfortable that none of that will be necessary. Any changes necessary for our SBCs to support Direct Routing can be realized through a no-touch upgrade of the software.
You wouldn’t expect to have to make a new SBC decision when deciding to move to Microsoft Teams calling, but if you find yourself in that position, you may want to think about protecting that investment.
