Department of Defense Chooses Ribbon's Application Server
The United States Department of Defense (DoD) undertook a monumental project to upgrade its communications infrastructure, leveraging Ribbon's industry-leading Joint-Interoperability Test Command (JITC)-certified Application Server. This deployment, part of the DoD's "Everything over IP" initiative, involved migrating over 60,000 users to Ribbon technology in a single weekend, marking the largest Voice over IP (VoIP) migration in DoD history. The project, executed in collaboration with Verizon, Black Box, and Visioneering, significantly enhanced the DoD's command and control capabilities by integrating secure real-time unified communications (UC) technology, including voice, video, instant messaging, presence, and conferencing. The innovative approach allowed the DoD to replace the core of its communications infrastructure while reusing existing endpoints and gateways, resulting in substantial cost savings and minimal disruption. This strategic deployment has provided the DoD with a robust, secure, and scalable communications network, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability for its vast workforce
