What is a Cookie

A cookie is a small piece of data (text file) that a website – when visited by a user – asks their browser to store on their device in order to remember information about them, such as their language preference or login information. Those cookies are set by Ribbon and called first-party cookies. Ribbon also use third-party cookies – which are cookies from a domain different than the domain of the Ribbon website being visited – for Ribbon’s marketing efforts.

To learn more about the origin of cookie technology and their value to the broader user web experience, website visitors are encouraged to visit Cookiepedia (All About Cookies).

To learn more about Ribbon's approach to privacy and data protection, please consult our Privacy Policy.

Managing Cookie Preferences on Ribbon Web Properties

Ribbon Cookie Banner and Preference Centers

The following web domains (each a "Ribbon Web Property" and collectively "Ribbon Web Properties") are operated by Ribbon and subject to this policy:

  • ribboncommunications.com
  • rbbn.com

In addition to this policy, Ribbon provides website visitors with additional transparency and choice regarding use of various types of cookies when visiting Ribbon Web Properties. This transparency and choice is typically characterized by the presentation of an interactive cookie banner upon first visit to a Ribbon Web Property and ongoing access to Ribbon’s Cookie Preference Centers at any time in order to review and adjust their cookie settings. A categorized list of cookies is also maintained by accessing this policy via a Ribbon Web Property.

Browser Cookie Controls

Alternatively, website visitors may opt to change cookie settings within their browser settings.  Internet browsers typically allow visitors to change cookie settings.  These are typically located within the "Preferences", "Tools" or "Option" menus within browsers.  Browsers may use different mechanisms to disable cookies.  To understand these settings, website visitors may consult the following links or us the in-browser 'Help' option for more guidance.

Google Analytics Cookies

Ribbon uses Google Analytics for aggregated, anonymized Ribbon Web Property traffic analysis.  This aggregated data is used to improve website visitor experience and to determine site effectiveness.  In order to enable tracking of the above, Google Analytics installs a cookie with a randomly generated ClientID in the website visitor's browser and collects the visitor's IP Address.  Website visitors who would like to opt out of Google Analytics tracking may elect to install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On or set their Ribbon Web Property cookie preferences to opt out of Google Analytics cookies using the Cookie Banner upon first visit.  Alternatively, website visitors may at any time adjust their settings using the Cookie Preference Centers which are accessible from Ribbon Web Property footers.  For additional information regarding Google Analytics tracking, website visitors are encouraged to visit the Google Analytics Privacy Policy.

Google Fonts

Ribbon uses Google Fonts in order to optimize Ribbon Web Property performance while making these websites more visually appealing to visitors.  When a user visits a Ribbon Web Property, the appropriate Google Font will be requested and rendered using the visitor’s IP address.  Ribbon hosts Google Fonts used for Ribbon Web Properties locally within web hosting platforms configured by Ribbon and consequently does not disclose visitor IP Addresses to Google in connection with its use of Google Fonts.
