Learning only Begins in the Classroom

Sonus Educational Services provides comprehensive and well received training according to feedback from customers/partners. Recently, we were able to sit down with Ginny Foster, Principal Technical Trainer at Sonus Networks, to discuss several important reasons why attendees report that participating in a Sonus training event is worth their time.

Editor:  What do you think is the most important component of a successful training experience?

Ginny:    Our instructors of course.  We have over 40 years of collective experience with Sonus products as well as many more years in the industry. Each instructor is extremely familiar with the material they present and everyone enjoys delivering the content to the students.  Our goal is to provide a comfortable environment for students to ask questions, learn the material and walk away with a positive learning experience. Our courses have a storyline that allows our students to build scenarios from beginning to end and work through their successes and failures along the way.

Editor:  Where can your students attend class?

Ginny:   Our classrooms accommodate students from all over the world. Students can attend a virtual classroom and have access to a live instructor, and a functional lab. In addition, we hold classes’ onsite for customers who want to take advantage of a live instructor that can address specific needs and scenarios. Finally, we offer classes in several Sonus facilities that allow students from several companies to attend and learn together as one large group.

Editor:    You said you have a functional lab environment that will reinforce what your instructors are teaching in class. What does that mean?

Ginny:   All classes whether virtual, onsite or in a Sonus facility utilize a fully functional lab that allows students to build individual scenarios that in the end must all work together.  Multiple lab exercises which build off each other reinforce the content presented throughout the day. This allows for various opportunities to troubleshoot and resolve issues as an individual student or as a team.

Editor:   What else can you tell us about the Sonus training experience?

Ginny:   You can’t spend days at a time without humor and developing friendships with others in the class. Our instructors are interesting people with interesting lives. They travel all over the world and share their stories with their students and promote interaction among the classroom.   Students end up sharing business cards, phone numbers and email addresses in order to stay in touch. What a great way to network!
