Celebrating a Day of Giving Back!

May 28th, 2014

On Friday, May 30, we will celebrate our annual Global Day of Service - a day when GENBAND employees from all over the world will give back by spending the day working at various charities and non-profits organizations in the communities where they live.  This year more than 90 charities from Ottawa, Frankfurt, Melbourne and virtually every corner of the globe will benefit from the hard work and generosity of GENBAND employees and I could not be more proud to be a part of an organization or such a truly global effort.

At GENBAND we spend our time being the provider of software-based, real-time communications solutions for our customers, but we also want to be great corporate citizens.  Time and again our employees have stepped up to lend a helping hand to those who may be a little less fortunate.  Since we started celebrating our Global Day of Service four years ago, GENBAND employees have dedicated more than 25,000 hours to community service.

I will spend my day volunteering at the New York Says Thank You Foundation, helping to renovate and restore a home affected by Hurricane Sandy.  I am looking forward to spending the day with colleagues and to hearing stories of how our employees from all over the world are giving back on our Global Day of Service.  We will be sharing our stories and photos on Twitter using the Hashtag #GENBANDDay.  I encourage you to follow the updates from our team members around the globe.

TshirtThis year our Global Day of Service theme is “Leaving our Mark”.  All GENBAND volunteers will be wearing T-shirts sporting the theme and logo, which was designed by one of our team members in South Africa, Marvin Horkins. The management team and employees selected Marvin’s design from more than 20 submitted from employees across the globe.  The competition was extremely tough but we felt that Marvin’s design and message really stood out.

Marvin got the inspiration for the T-Shirt design from his previous volunteer experiences on GENBAND Day.  He says the feedback from the organizations that he and his colleagues have worked with gave him the feeling that they were doing more than just volunteering for a project, that they were indeed – Leaving their Mark.  I could not agree more Marvin!
